West Michigan Uniformed Security
DK’s Specialized Training Curriculum

DK’s training curriculum consists of four stages including pre-assignment/general security practices, site specific, CPR/First Aid, and on-going training.

A written test is administered to each employee upon completion of the training and orientation program.  Test questions address all areas of the training and allow for a thorough assessment of the employee’s understanding of the material.
  1.  Pre-Assignment/General Security Practices

This phase of training provides a solid, basic training for officers and covers a wide array of security related topics in a user friendly format.  Security officers must complete this training prior to assignment at any client site.

The pre-assignment training is comprised of ten interdependent lessons, each of which is designed to provide new officers with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to work as an officer.  Topics include report writing, patrol techniques, legal issues to name a few.
  2. Site Specific

On-site training is a major component of DK’s training program. During this time, the officer will become familiar with site procedures and practices, facility grounds, staffing and a basic understanding of the client site’s organizational structure, services provided and populations served.  Operations managers will continue to oversee all employees ensuring that the highest standards of service are consistently maintained.

  3. CPR & First Aid Training

DK requires that all of its officers are CPR/First Aid/AED trained.  Officers who do not have this certification upon hire must complete the 8 hour training within the first 90 days of employment.  DK provides the training and incurs all costs.

  4. In-Service / On-going Training

DK strongly believes in the importance of on-going training as a major aspect of services provided to all clientele. In-service training is conducted when appropriate and will include updated security policies/procedures and innovative changes to improve service and safety levels.
